Christmas is finally over. wwheeeww! What a whirlwind that was! Time to get back to business! I had an interesting comment to my post about niche websites and I thought I would take the time to respond to it in today’s post.

“I’m interested in knowing how you will go about getting your traffic? I’m basically in this same boat learning how to niche site things and build traffic.”

First, thanks for posting a great question. I have been sorting this question out in my head for quite some time now and have a few ideas I will share with you guys. These are all things I am in the process of doing myself (or getting ready to) and you are welcome to give them a go! I’d love to hear back from you on more ideas or how any of the strategies might be working for you. Oh…and I decided this would make a great topic for an ehow article, so thanks for the idea! :)

1. Once your content niche website is ready to go it’s time to optimize it for search engine traffic. Your website should be content rich with the keywords you are focusing on for your website. You should make use of not only your main website content but also meta tags, image alt tags, comments and other search engine optimization strategies. I recently wrote an article “How to Optimize Your Website Meta Tags” on ehow.com and you can check it out here.

2. The very next thing on your list for promoting your content niche website is search engine submission. There are many software products available that will submit your site automatically for you but I am currently using TrafficSeeker which by the way they also have an affiliate program, so if your niche website has anything to do with search engine submission, business or website development, you might consider signing up with them. The software is really easy to use and even imports your Meta tags automatically by just typing in the website address and clicking the “Extract” button. This is definitely one of the best on the market and if you have multiple websites, it really helps to manage them in one easy to use place. I have to mention, the one feature that I personally find the most useful is the reporting I can run anytime that shows me my current ranking in the search engines for keywords or phrases.

3. Getting other websites to post links back to your website, also known as “backlinks” builds your website popularity and increases your search engine ranking. There are several ways to build backlinks to your website including making comments or posts on forums and blogs with related content to what your niche website is about, asking other site owners to swap links with you and writing articles that include a link back to your website.

4. Writing articles that focus on the topic of your niche website is a great way to build traffic. There are several article directories including ehow.com and ezinearticles.com. These articles will be keyword filled and you will benefit from the high search engine rankings that these websites already receive. Including a link back to your website will promote traffic from the click-thru but will also build another backlink to your website.

4. If your niche website is built using a blogging system such as Blogger or Wordpress, you have a RSS feed address. This address should be submitted to all the major RSS feed directories to help build more traffic to your website. This will also help the regular search engines find your website as well.

5. Utilize the social networking websites such as Facebook and twitter to spread the word about your content niche website. Facebook will allow you to quickly build your network of “friends” up, giving you a group of followers who can get updated easily on what’s going on with your website. Grab yourself a twitter account and begin making your own “tweets” but also follow other twitter’s who focus on the content related to your website.

6. Creating an informational or even a viral video and posting it on YouTube.com with backlinks to your website is another method for creating traffic. Depending on what your website niche content website is about there are many things you could do for a video including “how to” videos or “infomercials”.

7. Start an e-mail newsletter to be distributed among people who subscribe via your website. This little info will keep your website visitors coming back as repeat traffic but assuming you have great content, they may want to pass it along to their friends, co-workers, family or anyone else who they know will find the information useful which can lead to more traffic to your website.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

web page advertising is actually essentially all about the quantity of other url pages connecting to your page. if you don’t have these one way links you are usually dead in the water. this became apparent to me soon after joining what is certainly i believe the best semi-automatic website link building software system around … promoting website
