I’m sure you’ve heard me spout off before about how important backlinks are for building up your website popularity in the major search engines (all I care about is Google…who uses anything else). Well I’ve recently started hearing about this whole Blog Carnival thing and it peeked my interest. I’ve seen someone do one or two of them on the eHow writers forums, but even so I wanted to dive deeper to find out how I can reap the benefits for myself. So I took a visit on over to www.blogcarnival.com (check that backlink baby!) and learned exactly what it is all about. The basics of it involves posting a carnival blog, which is a collection of links with a sentence or two about it. You rotate out with others hosting the carnival and keep it moving. In essence you should end up with several new backlinks for your website.

This is all well and good, but I don’t want to wait for a weekly carnival and I certainly don’t want just one link or have to choose just one article to link to. So folks, I created a new website called HowToCarnival.com! Along with having a weekly carnival, it will also contain a directory of articles that ALL contain backlinks to blogs and the article links themselves. I am allowing any other “how to” style writers to include their articles in the directory as well, in exchange for providing a link back. Sort of a scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours situation. The first carnival is happening next Monday and I need articles! So if you have anything to submit be sure to click on “carnival” on the website and get me your submissions. Hopefully this will be another successful project for promoting articles for myself as well as other how to writers!
